The equipment available for use in the Laboratory is listed below:

UV-VIS Spectrophotometer-Ultrospec 2100 pro

In addition to measuring absorbance and concentration, it provides stored routines for nucleic acid quantitation and also a standard curve routine for protein determination. Wavelength scan with zoom, absorbance changes with time, reaction rate determinations, and standard curves can be displayed and printed out. User defined equations can be entered using the multi-wavelength mode and up to 18 methods can be saved.

FTIR-Smart ITR Nicolet iS10

Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) is a technique used to obtain an infrared spectrum of absorption or emission of a solid, liquid or gas. An FTIR spectrometer simultaneously collects high-spectral-resolution data over a wide spectral range.

Refractometer - B+S Digital RFM970-T

High precision Peltier temperature controlled refractometer
Range – 1.30 to 1.70 RI
Up to 6 decimal places RI
7” High definition touchscreen
Temperature Stability Checks

Fluorometer- Jasco FP-6500

an instrument which takes advantage of fluorescent properties of some compounds in order to provide information regarding their concentration and chemical environment in a sample. A certain excitation wavelength is selected, and the emission is observed either at a single wavelength, or a scan is performed to record the intensity versus wavelength, also called an emission spectra

NanoDrop- ND- 1000

a full-spectrum spectrophotometer (UV and visible spectrum, 220-750 nm) for measuring the absorbance of DNA, RNA, proteins and dyes

Polarimeter - B+S Single Wavelength ADP450

uses standard ICUMSA polarimeter tubes with a maximum length of 200mm
contain optics, featuring interference filter. Combined with a photodiode detector it allows the reading of samples of up to 3.0 OD at the commonly used sodium (589nm) wavelength. feature angular and sugar scales (ISS) and can be programmed with user scales as well as industry standard methods for displaying invert sugar, inversion (A-B) or when applying other factors such as tube length and concentration, Specific Rotation (or concentration when entering specific rotation).
