The International Building Center of the Buildings of the Nation Jerusalem - in collaboration with the Multidisciplinary Center for Cannabis Research (MCCR) of the Hebrew University, the Jerusalem Development Authority (JCVB) and the ICRS Association - will host the ICRS2021 International Cannabis Conference for the first time in Israel. If the Ministry of Health's guidelines do not allow for the physical existence of the conference, and the corona crisis continues, the unique event will be held online through the Nation Buildings' Virtual Congress Center platform.
The ICRS conference is the most important in the world in the field of cannabis research. It brings together leading researchers from the international scientific community and presents the latest and most up-to-date research in the field of cannabis. The conference will include frontal lectures and the presentation of posters covering a wide range of topics related to cannabis science, such as: autoimmune diseases, epilepsy, pain, post-trauma, drug development and medical chemistry, metabolism, obesity, cancer, and more.
The conference will be sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Center for Cannabis Research (MCCR) of the Hebrew University, which is the leading center in Israel for conducting research on cannabinoids, endocannabinoids and medical cannabis.
For the past 50 years, research by the Hebrew University has led the science of cannabis. This year will be marked at the 90th birthday conference of Prof. Rafael Meshulam, a university researcher in his hometown of Jerusalem. Prof. Meshulam, who is considered the "father of cannabinoid research", and his colleagues isolated the active ingredients of the cannabis plant, described their structure and synthesized them. Last December, Prof. Meshulam was awarded the prestigious Harvey Prize for 2020-2019 for discovering the endocannabinoid system and studying its implications for human health.
The ICRS is a non-profit organization in the United States that has been created as a safe space to discuss cannabis science.
