The School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, invites applications for tenure-track positions in Medicinal Chemistry for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year.


Position: Tenure-track Faculty Position in Medicinal Chemistry
Academic Year: 2024-2025


Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in chemistry with a robust emphasis on Medicinal Chemistry, specifically in Medicinal Synthetic, Inorganic or Biological Chemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with a distinguished background in developing synthetic methodologies and expertise in the design, synthesis, and exploration of natural- and natural-like compounds. Nevertheless, individuals with exceptional achievements in other aspects of Medicinal Chemistry are also strongly encouraged to apply.


Research Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will be expected to establish and lead independent, competitive research programs in Medicinal Chemistry. This encompasses the discovery, development, identification, and interpretation of the mode of action of biologically active compounds at the molecular level. Emphasis is placed on drug candidates and bioactive compounds in general, fostering a comprehensive understanding of their properties and potential applications.


Desired Qualities:
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to build and lead independent research groups and a strong commitment to guiding students at all levels within the study programs offered by the School of Pharmacy (B.Pharm., M.Sc., and Ph.D.).


Teaching Responsibilities:
In addition to their research contributions, successful applicants are expected to actively participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching within the School of Pharmacy. They will have the opportunity to mentor and guide students at all levels, contributing to future pharmaceutical scientists' academic growth and development.


Evaluation Criteria:
Applicants will be rigorously evaluated based on their innovative and excellent research contributions, dedication to mentoring and teaching, and potential to lead original and groundbreaking research in Medicinal Chemistry, regardless of their specific area of expertise.


Selection Process:
The School of Pharmacy's Search Committee will conduct the initial screening. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interviews at the Faculty of Medicine that include a frontal seminar.
